Class Experience

What's that word? How do I use that word?
So many words sound alike but yet are spelled differently. Throughout this ongoing class, students will learn words that are often seen in their reading and writing and some words that are spelled differently but sound the exact same. Students, will not only spell the word, but also hear the sounds of the letters and use them in sentences.

June 10: Students will learn until, write vs right, read vs red, above. They will then use these in sentences to show they understand the meaning and how thy are used.

June 17: Students will learn ask, wait vs weight, funny, close, live(and how we can spell this the same yet it can sound 2 different ways). They will then again use these in sentences to show understanding of how they are used.

June 24: Students will learn again, carry, always, gave, begin, hear vs here. They will spell each word and use them in a sentence.

July 1: Students will learn school, walk, change, outside, through vs threw, night. They will spell each word and use them in a sentence.

I enjoy hearing the creative sentences students write when learning new words! I can't wait to hear what creativity these students bring with them!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I’m Stephanie and I am a wife and a mom to a teenage daughter. I have been working with children for over 20 years in a variety of roles and graduated with a degree in Education. I have assisted teachers in Head Start classrooms to being a lead teacher in a preschool classroom. I also work in an elementary school setting with wonderful students who need a little extra one on one help in reading, writing and math.
All students learn at a pace that is right for them. Education is a not a one size fits all and this past year I had the great experience of working online with students to really focus on just that! We focused on what worked for them when it was our time to work together, if what we tried one time didn't work, we tried something else the next. Learning should be fun, therefore, making sure the students aren't struggling is key!
One bonus of working from home this past year was having a talking parrot who always enjoyed being a part of the class. He didn't always get the right answer but usually got a laugh out of the kids!
I look forward to working with you and your family!
