45 mins in-class hours per weekHomework
1 hour per week. Due to baking, cooling, and decorating times, some recipes may require extra steps outside of class time to complete.Class Experience
In this ongoing course, young bakers will meet once per week to create a new delicious, and fun recipe! Recipes will generally be seasonally based, with room for students requests to be worked into the calendar. While many recipes will require baking, some will only require the stovetop, and "no-bake" recipes will be mixed in as well. Gluten, dairy, and nut-free options will always be available for those with dietary restrictions. The goal of this class is to excite and educate learners on the basics of baking, and to help them feel comfortable navigating the kitchen. This class is suitable for all skill levels, as we will go through each step slowly, and cater to the speed of each learner. Class will begin with greetings and introductions, and a check-off of all the ingredients and equipment needed for the week's recipe. (All ingredients and equipment used in the recipe will be posted 1-week before class in the class discussion board (including allergy-free alternatives)). This is to ensure each learner has all the necessary components for the recipe. We will then jump into the recipe, and make our way through each step together as a group. While many recipes will be completed in class, due to baking, cooling, and decorating times, others may require extra steps outside of class time to complete. Regardless of when the recipe is completed, learners are encouraged to post the pictures of their final product for the group to see! Teacher expertise and credentials
Being gluten and dairy intolerant, I initially thought I would have to give up all my favorite treats. Missing all of these foods, I began researching gluten and dairy-free baking, and quickly realized an allergy-friendly lifestyle was all about substitutions, instead of restrictions! I jumped back in the kitchen, and began experimenting with revamping all the recipes I use to love to fit into my new lifestyle. Along the way, I began to share my journey with others on my blog, Clean Cuisine, and threw all my time into posting what I was learning to help others.
I love sharing my excitement for baking with those with and without dietary restrictions, by educating on how everyone can be a great baker!
