This class will begin with student and teacher introductions. We will then move to a discussion about the purpose behind a vision board and how to construct one! I will teach students how a vision board can be used to help students discover and act on their passions and interests as well as construct a pathway to the future! Specifically, the goal in this class is to have learners focus in on this extraordinary school year and what goals and aspirations they have! Students will get a chance to view several different types and styles of vision boards and we will talk about the different purposes behind each! After discussing the different design options, students will be given the chance to play the "designer." The second part of the class will focus on student led design and creation of their very own back-to-school vision board!

A pen or pencil, -Markers or colored pencils, -A couple of old magazines or newspapers, -A glue stick, -A 10 x 14 or larger piece of paper

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hi! My name is Kristy Burgess! I teach a variety of classes involving positive thinking, leadership, yoga, and fitness! I earned both my Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Education (M. Ed) degree from the University of Michigan and have been a teacher for 15 years in Michigan; teaching 7-12 grades. Most recently, I have spent the past 4 years teaching 8th grade! I believe the most important thing about learning is to ENJOY it! I love seeing children excited about learning and engaged in the process! I am a firm believer that all students need their voices to be heard and I love seeing students proud of the work they have accomplished!! On a personal note, I am a sports junky! I love to watch and play sports and I am also a dog lover! I have two Golden Retrievers!!! Hank is our oldest and he is 5, and Sam is our crazy young guy; who is 1!!!
