Let's Design a Zoo together! Draw, invent, design, use your imagination and creativity in this Architect-led class. We will each pick an animal and design its home with everything it needs to be happy. Class structure with timings in minutes: 00:00 Welcome everyone and agree expectations for the class. Teacher introduces herself. Resources check. 00:05 Class discussion about what animals need to be happy (shelter, food, water, the right temperature, grass/trees, living alone/in pairs/in a group, etc.) 00:10 We each pick an animal. We draw our animal. Teacher shows her drawing, children can copy the teacher's drawing if they like. 00:15 We think about what our animal will like to eat, drink, where it will sleep, and what it likes to do all day. Children can write notes if they want to (optional). 00:20 We each draw where our animal will live. Teacher answers any questions and gives guidance. 00:30 We show our animal's homes to each other (optional, each child decides if they want to show theirs or keep drawing). 00:40 We each give a name to our Zoo. Any last questions? Teacher suggests how the children can keep developing their design after the class if they want to. Thank yous and goodbyes. 00:45 Class ends. Notes for Parents: No required experience or drawing ability. Children don't need to be able to read or write. Class is designed to be fun and relaxed.
