Bah humbug! You have been trapped by the Grinch in the Mount Crumpit winter lodge by the Grinch and Ebenezer Scrooge! The Grinch has left you an ugly note claiming that he has released the Scrooge virus, and plans on spreading it all over Whoville! You must unlock the Christmas spirit antidote by solving a series of lock combinations in time for Christmas! In Deck the Hall Christmas Escape Room, students will be engaged as they use reading comprehension and context clues to figure out vocabulary words, read passages, and solve puzzles. There are multiple activities in this digital escape, all themed from holiday classics such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas and the Christmas Carol! Students will work in teams to escape before time expires. They will receive an opening letter from the Grinch and work their way out of the rooms by opening digital locks. In the Grinch Room, learners will search for a series of clues and hidden objects around the room! Students will need to match the clues with each object. This will unlock a key to enter the world of Ebenezer Scrooge. Learners will watch a video and answer a series of trivia questions and puzzles around Stave 1 of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol (1843)! No previous knowledge of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas or the Christmas Carol are required for this breakout room experience. All reading material will be provided.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Greetings Outschool Family!
My name is Dwitney Bethel! I would describe myself as a vivacious and effervescent free spirit! I am originally from Nassau, Bahamas, but I consider myself a North American, as I spent nearly a decade in both the United States and Canada respectively. Although, of all of the places I have either lived or traveled through, my favorite is by far Japan! There is something timeless and magical about a place that embodies both the past and future at the same time.
I offer both private and public sessions! So if you are looking for afterschool programs, birthday games, or private sessions, feel free to message me with your inquiry.
In terms of my personal experiences, I have a background in History, Creative Writing, and Globalization Studies. I have a Bachelor of Honours in History and Development Studies, an M.A. in Public History, as well as an M.A. in Globalization Studies. I worked as a teaching assistant throughout my graduate studies, and mentored ESL students as well! I had always imagined myself teaching English abroad until I made the decision to become an entrepreneur and work for myself! I recently graduated from a Business and Entrepreneurship program, as I wanted to become a business owner and start my own company. My company offers team building games as well as heritage, tourism and cultural experiences, and that is what I hope to bring here! Therefore, I will offer an array of courses in the upcoming weeks from a very interdisciplinary perspective! I will bring gameshow style classes to traditional subjects such as history, global politics, geography, and anthropology.
I also hope to have some creative writing and book club combination courses dealing with subjects such as Immigration, Minority Studies and Feminine Identity using historical fiction for middle school and young adults. I will also feature some interactive escape room and thriller mystery games sets as well!
I was never a student who could fit into one discipline, as I just had a love and interest in almost everything! Interdisciplinary studies changed my life, and that is the approach I hope to bring here! I hope I can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.
