This class will give an overview of the foundational skills needed to be successful at debate! The course will be set up in a four week format with information and activities to support learning. I will teach in an easy to understand way at a pace that makes learning the content fun. There will be videos, slides and questions to prompt critical thinking. I will always be available to give feedback or answer questions as needed. I will communicate with you as often as you need in order to be successful in this course. I will always respond within 24 hours. This course is designed to be completed in up to four weeks.

over 4 WeeksLesson 1:
Foundations of Debate
This lesson centers around the foundations of Debate! Learners will understand what a debate is, how a formal/informal debate works and the different styles of competition that are available. Learners will discover some of the many benefits to learning how to effectively debate. 8 mins of video lessons
Lesson 2:
Developing an argument and a counter argument
This lesson will teach how to develop an effective argument from a four step process. Learners will discover the art and skill of crafting a persuasive argument that is sure to impress. Being an effective debater also requires the ability to think on your feet and develop counter arguments as well. Students will have the opportunity to learn what it takes to counter an argument on the fly in order to score points in the debate. 8 mins of video lessons
Lesson 3:
Non verbal tools for success
Lesson 3 is all about the little things that will take you from being a good debater to a top notch one! Non verbal strategies are all about body posture, tone of voice, eye contact, charisma and more. As you craft your skill in debate, you will learn to utilize these non verbal skills to your advantage and march your way to debating like a champion. 7 mins of video lessons
Lesson 4:
Impromptu debate and putting it all together!
The final week teaches learners the ever important skill of being able to debate in an impromptu/last minute style! There are secrets to being prepared to argue anything at the drop of a hat and learners will discover how to become great at this! Students will review all of the knowledge learned in this course in a wrap up activity that cements them as champions of debate! 7 mins of video lessons
