Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
This is a student centered course where students will be expected to work together and participate! Each week students will be put in teams and given a topic to debate. They will come up with opening statements, list their reasons, and have a chance to come up with rebuttals. Each team will decide what part each student will get to present to the class. Teams will alternate between breakout rooms to prep and the main classroom to present to the class.

Students will be expected to have a civil debate where taunting and inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. One student will not be allowed to dominate the conversation as students will take turns and have speaking time limits. Learners will need to have their cameras on and be active participants!

Below is a weekly breakdown of topics:

Week of Nov 29: Should kids have a set bedtime?
Week of Dec 6: Should pets be allowed at school?
Week of Dec 13: Should the school day be shortened?
Week of Dec 20: no class this week!
Week of Dec 27: (some classes will meet) Should cursive be taught in school?
Week of Jan 3: Should kids have chores?/ Should kids get paid for chores?
Week of Jan 10: Should people be able to have any kind of animal as a pet or only certain kinds?

Hello,

My name is Amy Sneath and I am the creator of Moxie Learning. Our company of teachers aim to provide a world class education without the limits of physical location. We form true classroom communities that rival those of traditional school. Friendships and true connection alongside academic excellence are regular occurrences at Moxie Learning.

When I was in school, I fell victim to math phobia and believed I was "bad" at math. Now I pride myself on meeting students where they are at and building their confidence to see they can learn any concept. I have experience in traditional 3rd and 4th grade classrooms teaching math and have seen first hand the difference in student achievement when they build confidence in themselves. This creates a life long love of learning which is even more valuable than the specific skills they will learn in my classroom.

Our team of teachers have several years of online educational experience in various grade levels and subjects. Both of our teachers graduated college with honors and are life long learners themselves. We are excited to share our love of learning with your children!
