Class Experience

"You better watch out, you better not cry, Santa Claus is coming to town," and little ones everywhere are missing the opportunity to sit on Santa's lap this year and tell them their holiday wishes. This class provides young students with an opportunity to make their requests and learn the proper format of writing a letter. Learners will have the opportunity to write their Christmas wish list and send it to Santa. They will also learn how to properly address an envelope and where to put a stamp. Have your child grab some egg nog and cookies and enjoy an hour of fun writing letters to Santa in a casual discussion class with visual aids.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Sarah Carter and I am entering my 15th year teaching. I have taught both at the high school and elementary levels. For the majority of my teaching career, I have taught Special Education focusing on English and Reading. I have also taught Social Studies, ESL, and gifted classes. I have a M.Ed. in Special Education with an Emphasis in Gifted and Talented Education.

I teach a wide variety of classes including book clubs, creative writing, essay writing, reading comprehension, literature, current events, social clubs, social studies classes, and much more. I look for ways to make learning fun and interesting, allowing students to think at higher levels. I set high expectations for my students, but ensure that they are having fun during the learning process.

I believe that everyone should enjoy learning and that teachers should consider all learning styles when creating material. Every student has a right to learn and I will advocate for that right and work to ensure that every child in my class is learning to their potential.

When I am not teaching, I am busy having fun with my three beautiful girls and my husband. I also enjoy reading, knitting, and playing around with educational technology.
