In this 4-part class, students will learn the skills needed to write a killer DBQ essay on the AP World History, AP US History, or AP European History exam including how to get a near-perfect grade.

Introduction and Overview
What is the DBQ? What is the rubric and what does each point mean? How have others done this?
 Week 2
Lesson 2
How to analyze documents: demonstration and practice.
Determine the most appropriate way for reading and analyzing documents to set yourself up to write an exemplary essay.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Contextualization, Evidence Beyond the Documents Analysis Deeper Dive
Gain an understanding of how to earn the point for contextualization. Understand how to earn the additional evidence point.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Complexity | Reading and Learning from Exemplars, How to Do a DBQ on your own
Understand how to earn the complexity point. Write your own DBQ essay from beginning to end.
Students will learn how to analyze documents and write an essay to the specifications of the College Board for all AP History exams following the demands of the rubric.
I have taught and tutored students in AP World, AP US, and AP European history over the last 15 years. I have taught a live version of this same class to over 75 learners on Outschool with a five-star rating.
Homework Offered
Students will be given the opportunity to write and submit 2 DBQ essays. Each one should take no more than an hour.
1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Essays submitted will be graded based on the AP College Board© rubric.
Grades Offered
Essays that are submitted will be graded based on the rubric used by the College Board.
Pen and paper are preferred for writing the essays.
