Class Experience

Welcome to Teacher Amy’s Dance Class! πŸ’ƒ

In this fun and engaging dance class, I will teach a new combo every week! Each week will be a different song and each recurring student will get a chance to pick a song they would like to learn a dance to. I even have an assistant that will be helping me to teach the combo and helping the learners with moves they don’t understand.

Each week our class will start out with a gentle warmup and stretch to make sure our bodies are ready. After that, we will get right to it! The teaching speed will vary depending on the students that are in the class on a particular day. I ask that students be muted while I am teaching to ensure everyone can hear the music and the instructions I am giving. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions when there are moves they do not understand.

Dancing is my favorite sport, and I have done dance class since I was little. I have also taught dance to 3-12 year olds for a few years. I am very excited to share my love of dance will all of you!

Hello everyone and welcome to my teaching profile! I appreciate you taking a look!
**I am new to the Outschool platform, but I have been teaching online for 12 years.

Similar to many moms, I wear multiple hats. Some of my expertise comes from personal experience while other comes from professional experience. I was born to be a teacher and truly believe I excel in providing safe, engaging classes for all learners. I also believe communication plays an integral part in the success of any teacher. Please do not hesitate to reach out via the outschool platform for any questions or concerns.

My two children, 10 and 12, have been homeschooled since before they could talk. My son is dyslexic and while working with him took an immense about of patience and understanding, he now LOVES to read! While the main goal in working with him was to get him to read, more importantly, the goal of fostering a love of learning always came first. Everyday we begin our homeschool with circle time. We have done this since they were little and adjusted the topics/discussions as they grew. It is a part of our day that they always look forward to! I also lead our local homeschool co-op in circle time 3 times a week.

I have taught elementary classes in the public school system for several years. I also hold a Masters of Science with an emphasis in general Psychology. All of my professional life has been spent working with children and education in one way or another.

My idea for circle time first originated years ago when I had an in-home daycare. Starting our day with circle time helped them to establish a routine within my daycare, and it gave the kids something to look forward to each morning. οΏΌ

οΏΌοΏΌWhile obtaining my Masters of Science degree, I became quite the researcher. My thesis was on isolation in an online learning environment and how to foster a sense of community within group courses. I have also done an immense amount of research on children and their learning styles. My classes are structured in a way that allows students with any learning style to benefit. For instance, in all of my classes there is a physical aspect for the kinesthetic learners. I always use presentations or books with bright, fun colors for those visual learners, and I use song and rhyme for the auditory learners.
