👨🚀 Welcome to the accelerated coding and cybersecurity course- This class includes levels 1 and 2 (29 lessons) and it is a great option for homeschooling students or for fast completion over a school break. This is a challenging course! In this unique class we incorporate the basics of coding and cyber security in an easy to follow 20 lesson curriculum. This listing includes both levels 1 and 2. In this flex class, learners will complete lessons that will teach the syntax, structure, & procedures for writing programs in Python while also learning the basics in cyber security. _______________________________________________ 💻 Cybersecurity lessons cover the concepts of communication systems, hardware, networks, software, the Internet of Things, security, digital citizenship, and more. 📖 The lessons in this cybersecurity course address standards from both CYBER.ORG's cybersecurity standards and CSTA's computer science standards. 👀 In the coding lessons, learners will learn concepts that cover the syntax, structure, & procedures for writing programs in Python. Learners will create a game or animation at the end of each lesson to show what the they have learned. 🌟🎓📜 Upon successful finishing of the course, students will receive a certificate of course completion. _______________________________________________ ❤️ This series is broken into 29 individual lessons. 💚 All lessons cover individual concepts and practice. 💜 Lessons are conducted in a platform called Codesters 💙 There are NO live meetings in this class, but the teacher is available to answer questions via the Outschool virtual classroom. ________________________________________________ 🌟NOTE: This class is best for beginners who are at least 10 years old. 📆 Schedule of lessons: 4-6 lessons are due each week. ✅ Week 1 What is Cybersecurity? and Ready to Code Variables & Dot Notation/Communication Systems Dot Notation and Coding with Shapes Hardware/Variables & Data Types User Input/Network ✅ Week 2 Input & Casting and Loops Internet of Things/Math and Random Module Software/Conditionals and the Equality Operator Conditionals Security / Pet Shop coding Project Discussion Questions: Video/audio recording due. ✅ Week 3 Lists & Loops All Mixed Up Coding Project Password Generator Coding Generator Digital Citizenship and Cyberbullying Functions Discussion Questions: Video/audio recording due. ✅ Week 4 Party Invitation Coding Project Online Ethics and Policies - Ethics agreement due. Function Parameters Around the Solar System Coding Project Caesar Cipher 💻 How is the class structured? Each week, students will watch a short video lesson and they will complete a series of activities and a coding project in a learning platform called Codesters. Students will also be required to respond to discussion questions in weeks 2 and 3 via a video or audio recording. ✉️ The teacher will be available for questions and help any day of the week. All messages will be answered within 24 hours via the Outschool virtual classroom. Messages are forwarded to the email on file in Outschool. 😃 How much will learners get to interact with you and each other? Learners will interact by viewing each other's projects on the Codesters platform and videos posted in the classroom. Learners will be providing feedback to each other within the Outschool comment feature under each week's thread in our Outschool virtual classroom. Any required experience or knowledge learners need? No coding experience is required for students 10 and older. For students younger than 10 years old, I highly recommend taking our Scratch classes before enrolling in this class. How much time will the student need to dedicate to this class? This particular program works great for Flex because the lessons are loaded into a learning platform. There are 10 total lessons in level 1 and 10 lessons in level 2, with one project due at the end of each lesson. I create the videos for my classes. Students will watch video lessons, complete their course work, and also create their projects within Codesters. Codesters has a code editor built within. *Note for parents about the learning platform that will be used for this class: The cost of the licensing for the virtual platform is included in the class fee.
