2-4 hours per week. Upon the completion of this class, I will send out additional worksheets based on the student's individual performance if additional homework will help the student on word families that were worked on in class.Class Experience
Have your child join us in a class that starts with fundamental basics of Reading: CVC words! CVC words are consonant/vowel/consonant words like cot, hot, and tot! Learners will spend their time in class learning what blending sounds means and decoding new words with -ob, -od, -og, -on, -op, and -ot! The class will begin with the teacher introducing or reviewing what it means to sound out words. The learners will follow an echo style method as each word family is introduced. Each word family will be taught separately using different short-o word lists for each word family using magnetic letters! The learner will have lots of practice with the teacher prior to playing a board game. In addition, level of difficulty on decoding of words and of the game will be based on the student output and progress of learning throughout the lesson. The teacher will then work with the learner to complete the provided CVC short-O matching picture worksheet. Please note that the Prerequisite for this class is that the child already know all of their letters and sounds.
Learning Goals
The learner will be able to sound out letters to blend and decode (short-o vowel) CVC words!

I am currently certified to teach Early Childhood to 6th grade in the state of Texas! I have spent several years in the Pre-Kindergarten classroom and moved over to the Special Education specialization. I spent a few years working in the Inclusion and Resource unit for grade levels 1st through 5th and Life-skills Unit for grades 9-12.
My teaching style is energetic, singing songs, and learning through games and play. I love to motivate my students with constant positive feedback as well as rewards! I will be focusing on letter identification, sounds, phonics, colors, shapes, sight words, fluency, and learning to read! In addition to this, I plan to extend my classes to a focus in science with experiments and book clubs using a variety of familiar reading strategies for ages 7-10!
