As a first grade teacher for 25 years for both struggling and gifted students (and all students in-between), I will use my expertise to customize support for your child in advancing their literacy skills. I will assess your child's level and based on that a detailed plan for their growth and skill development will be created. To ensure effective tutoring, the teacher suggests meeting 2x per week. Book additional recurring meetings after the initial purchase.This class is taught in English.
Your child will: - increase their word attack skills - using phonics and other strategies to unlock new and longer words - increase comprehension skills - be able to read increasingly difficult texts (fiction and non- fiction) If you would like writing to be a focus your child will: - increase legibility of their penmanship - write increasingly more complex sentences and stories/reports Really whatever you want your child to learn - I can teach!
Homework Offered
Students will be asked to read independently at least 15 minutes a day. Depending on the focus of our work there - homework will vary and at least 30 minutes between sessions will be expected. Assigned work will be expected to turned in by 9 am the morning of the next session for review.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
