Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and Welcome! My name is Ms. Whitney, and I’m excited to share my love of teaching and learning with the Outschool community. I’m a firm believer that the performing arts help build valuable tools for life, as well as support for academic skills, which is why I feel so fortunate to teach what I love. My goal for all my classes is to allow students a safe, inclusive, engaging environment where they can spark their own creativity, build their confidence, explore their self-expression, and not to mention…have some fun learning performing arts techniques. My teaching style is relaxed, energetic, but structured in order to provide students with a balance of activities that promote learning techniques as well as leaving space for students to express their ideas.
For the past 8 years, I’ve taught performing arts classes for children ages 2 to 14. In addition to teaching the performing arts, I am schooling my 3 children at home. When we started our journey, I discovered I had a passion for creating curriculum and lesson plans, which has only blossomed while earning my master’s degree. I have a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction, and a BA in Psychology.
A little more about me: My family and I recently moved to a piece of property that we are trying to turn into a mini sustainable farm. When I’m not teaching, I can be found gardening, working around the property, writing plays, reading, watching movies, and spending time with my family (which includes my dogs, cats, chickens, and fish).
“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”
