In this on going class students will tackle topics specific to agriculture. There will be a planned topic each week but the teacher will work as a facilitator. With extensive experience in the daily realities of agriculture and formal education in the topic the teacher will strive to expand the perspective of students. Current Issues in agriculture are issues because there are at least two valid sides to the dilemma. Students will discuss the issue from a legal, ethical, financial and logistical perspective. The teacher will choose a topic and provide some resources prior to class so students have a basis of knowledge and understanding. If a current issue in agriculture arises this schedule may be adjusted. Week 1: Is It Agriculture’s Time To Shine? Teacher expertise and credentials
The teacher holds a current teaching certificate in Vocational Agriculture in Texas. She has a Masters Degree in Agriculture Science with an emphasis in Communication and Adult Education from Texas A&M University Kingsville. Her Bachelors Degree is in Agriculture Service and Development from Tarleton State University. Her scope of experience includes classroom agriculture educator, competitive debater in state agriculture advocacy programs, as well as work with the Texas FFA and National FFA Organizations.
