Cultivating Gratitude: Noticing and Naming All the Good in Your Life
Move from appreciating the general good things in your life to being able to notice specifically what you are thankful and grateful for every day. This habit of gratitude leads to increased joy, a positive outlook, contentment, and trust! Perfect for Thanksgiving, or if you have been wanting to start a gratitude journal.
Class experience
In this one-time class, we will explore the habit of gratitude. Gratitude helps us find joy in the midst of daily responsibilities & chores, injured friendships, controversies, or concerns. We will discuss five steps toward building a habit of gratitude, beginning with the naming of things around you that make you happy, acknowledging how you can use this skill during tough times, and how to share it with others. Each step will include discussion, practice activities, and sharing of examples...
Students will learn what gratitude is, how to be grateful for specific things in their day, and the benefits the habit of gratitude will bring to you. They will also be inspired and motivated to continue this habit outside out of class.
Allison Woolley has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics from the University of California at Davis and has homeschooled her children from kindergarten through high school. She has worked as a Student Health Advocate preparing health presentations and consultations for college students. Additionally, she has led youth groups and classes for 5th – 12th graders and been a 4-H Project Leader for middle school & high school level 4-H projects. She has seen how a habit of being grateful has improved her own outlook on life and would love to help others start this habit too.
