Class Experience

The five-lesson flex class does not include live face to face interaction. The class introduces introduces learners to: the Word screen, icons, groups and tabs, ribbon, dialogue box launcher,  character formatting, spacing, selecting text, bullets and number, columns, paragraph formatting, format painter, symbols, tables, find and replace, header/footer, letter formatting, inserting and framing images, wrapping text and themes, tabs, page borders and page numbers.

How do the flex classes work?

At the beginning of each week I send a: 
* link to a video that I have made specifically for the class
 	* Document that goes over the new skill sets step-by-step. 
 	* When complete the learner submits the lesson. 
 	* I review the lesson and send a detailed message or video with corrections if needed.
 	* The learner corrects the errors and re-submits.

During the week I am always available to answer any questions or schedule a brief meeting with them on Zoom if necessary.

This class includes teacher prepared videos, worksheets, quizzes and multiple projects. 

This is a segment of the technology applications class that I taught for twenty years. I wrote the curriculum based on skill requirements set by the state of Texas. 

The learners will complete worksheets, quizzes and projects and submit them for grading.

Week 1 – Word screen, icons, groups and tabs, the ribbon, dialogue box launcher
Week 2 – Character formatting, spacing, selecting text, bullets and number, columns, 
Week 3 – Paragraph formatting, Format painter, symbols, tables, find and replace, header/footer
Week 4 – Letter formatting, inserting and framing images, wrapping text and themes, Tabs, page borders 
Week 5 – Managing sources, citations, footnotes, endnotes, bibliography 


 
Needed for this class:  Computer with video, sound and document saving capability, newer version of Microsoft Word (2019 or Office 365) preferred

Computer with video, sound and document saving capability, newer version of Microsoft Word (2019 or Office 365), access to  separate device (phone or tablet) so the student is able to work along with the instructor step-by-step through instruction.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
