Class Experience

Intermediate Level
Do marine animals interest you? If so, you've found the right class! We will learn and talk about different sea critters and why they are important to our planet. During class we will also go over a brief presentation, watch a short video, play a fun game and learn how to draw the sea critter we learn about that day with step by step instructions. Every student will also receive a certificate of participation at the end of each class. We will have fun by combining animal sciences and art. I hope you can join us!

Week 1 (Sea Turtles): Sea turtles are found in oceans and seas all over the world, and their distribution can vary depending on the species. During this week, students will learn some facts about sea turtles and will hone their drawing skills by drawing these interesting critters.

Week 2 (Seals): Seals are primarily found in the world's oceans, from polar regions to more temperate waters. They are adapted to both marine and terrestrial environments. During this week, students will learn more interesting facts about seals and will draw them as a class.

Week 3 (Sharks): Learning more about sharks can be a fascinating and rewarding journey. Whether you're interested in their biology, conservation, or their role in marine ecosystems, there's a lot to explore in the world of sharks. During this week, students will learn some facts about sharks and will practice how to draw these fascinating creatures.

Week 4 (Stingrays): Stingrays are one of many fascinating creatures with unique adaptations for their underwater lifestyles. During our last week, students will learn very important facts about stingrays and will also draw them. Since this will be our last week for the course, students will also have the option to participate in a brief game of the sea critters we learned about since our first week.

Learning Goals

The students will learn facts about marine animals and will learn basic fundamentals of art by drawing them. They will also learn about the role of sea animals in marine ecosystems, including their interactions with other species and the ways they contribute to ecosystem balance.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi everyone! My name is Teresa and I am very excited to teach here on Outschool. I have over 16 years of veterinary nursing experience in a variety of areas including emergency veterinary medicine and wildlife veterinary medicine. I also have degrees in Biology, Veterinary Technology and a Master's degree in Animal Science. Throughout my years as a veterinary nurse, I have also taught classes to students of all ages (both children and adults) which included Art, Math, Science, ESL, Writing, Spanish, and Veterinary Medicine. This unique experience with the students motivated me to also pursue a TEFL certificate and professional tutoring certification.

On Outschool I will be teaching students about animal care and wildlife combined with Art. This will allow students to be creative while learning how we can help our animals and how we can better coexist with them. Animals and art are two of my interests. I can't wait to share all the fun ideas and bring them to life with the students.
