1 hour per week. Students may work on their artwork outside of class in order to discuss progress in the following class.

Class Experience

Ever wonder how animal characters are drawn? Grab your pet and join us in Critter Corner for some drawing and social time!   

In this four week course, we will discuss and explore the language and character attributes of animals. 

Studying your subject, each week you will learn how to translate your beastie into form, shape and line. Learning how to use your powers of observation to enhance features of your critter, you will be able to design a fun character. 

Week 1: Meet up and decide who you want to draw and discuss approaches and character's background. Learn some fun drawing warm up techniques to get sketching.

Week 2: Drawing techniques: roughing out shape, form and line. Discussion of work done so far. 

Week 3: Strike a Pose: Study of character attributes and bringing in personality and line of action. Feedback round for next steps to take.

Week 4: Presentation of your own Tooned Beastie to Megan, Snickerdoodle and the rest of the class and a wrap-up discussion.

Here in Critter Corner we like to share what we are working on, listen to each other and enjoy observing animals. 

So grab a pencil and and sketchbook and let's get drawing!

Learning Goals

Here in Critter Corner we like to hang out, talk about animals and share what we are working on. Each week, we will work on drawing Snickerdoodle and or your own pet.

If you have a pet, feel free to bring them to Class (provided they fit in your studying space.)

I'm  a Character Designer and former Animator.  I've had the pleasure of working with greats in the field from: Pixar, Disney and Nickelodeon Studios. I find inspiration around every corner and have always been passionate and fascinated about creatures. I'm also a Children’s Book Author and Toy Designer and find animals a constant inspiration in my work! 

My professional experiences have allowed me to gain a variety of unique industry skills sets that are not normally available outside of the Industry. 

Studying animals all of my life, I've learned how to decode their languages and draw inspiration for character creation.
