Class Experience

At the beginning of class, I will greet and try to get to know each student and his or her name.
Then I will screen share my google slides to share our "class rules" using google slides.
Next, (out of screen share) each student will be invited to share a favorite number that they know. (I plan to use an external whiteboard to write these down.)
Then I will share some information about numbers and why we need them.
Next, we will review numbers 0-9 together.
Then we will start counting creatures from 10 to 19, observing how the numbers look and writing them down.
Lastly, we'll play a little number recognition game,

This class is good for any young one that needs a little help recognizing the numbers 10 - 19.

Thank you for your interest.

Hi. My name is Alana A. I am a recently retired home educator, a former lead teacher at a homeschool co-op, and currently, I am an online English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. My approach to learning has been a hands-on involvement at first, working closely with my students and then gradually releasing them when they are ready to take the lead on their learning. When truly interested, they have gone far and beyond my knowledge and have 'taught' me. In the ESL world it's summed up like this: "I do - we do - you do".

I've taught a variety of subjects and classes over the years (from 1996) but my favorite has been with enrichment classes, especially in reading and math. My hope is to provide helpful learning opportunities for young learners and perhaps another perspective to what is already being taught at home.

Thank you!
