Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
Learners will be creative writing short stories in a notebook/journal. This is a multi-day course in which each day I will present them with a new writing prompt to complete. This is a lecture-style course with Q and A in which the teacher will discuss the prompt of the day and the students will write a written response and illustration for it. For the first day of week one, the learners will write about something they did over the weekend. On the second day, the learners will write about their favorite animal and why that animal is their favorite animal. On the third day, the learners will write about their favorite food and why that food is their favorite. Then on the fourth day, the learners will write about something that made them happy/smiled that day. For the last day of the week class session, the learners will write something they are going to do over the weekend. On the first day of the second week learners will write about their favorite hobby, On the second day of the second week, learners will write about their favorite place to visit. On the third day of the second week, learners will write about something they hope to do during the year. On the last day of the second week, learners will think about an experience they had recently and write about it. After they have written their entries, learners can illustrate a small picture to accompany what they have written. Learners need little experience with writing but should have a knowledge of their personal interests. Learners will apply an understanding of creative writing through their thoughts and ideas to the writing prompts being presented during each class session.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have worked with students in the Florida Public School System for over 20 years. I have taught in all the core subject areas in elementary education. My experience ranges from remedial to gifted. Two years ago, I began tutoring online and focused on my passion. My online teaching experience has provided me an opportunity to find alternative ways to communicate and teach students effectively.
My classroom focuses on the individual student, and their success is of my utmost importance. With such an extensive teaching background, I have learned strategies to make material adaptive when needed through presentation methods and delivery of material. I work to maintain a line of open communication with parents so that all students may succeed.
I am always learning and bettering myself. I enjoy swimming, reading, cooking, baking, taking photos, trying new foods, and traveling to new places.
