Learn to write a novel or short stories! Craft a spellbinding plot, invent dynamic characters, and participate in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) as you write your original story, novel, or fanfiction. In this class, students will receive detailed feedback on 1000 words of their novel/stories as well as unlimited Q&A and support from a published author. In this class, there are no live meetings, so you can learn anytime, anywhere, on your own schedule within the 18 week period. A Kacie Iuvara, published author and Megapixels-Certified Instructor will give feedback on the first one thousand (1,000) words of your writing and will answer all your questions. Please expect a 24 hour response time during business hours. This response might come as written feedback or your instructor might create a video to give you feedback. Meg Navarro has created the pre-recorded video lessons. Meg is self-published on Amazon, and Kacie's novel has been published by a publishing house. After this class, students can sign up for part two, where they will polish, edit, illustrate, and self-publish their writing on Amazon (optional). When you post your work, please indicate whether you want feedback from your instructor only, or also from your peers. Peer feedback must be given in an encouraging sandwich format. What does this mean? Say something you like about the writing, then give an idea of how to make it better, then say one more thing you like about it. Please keep in mind, it's up to you whether you make changes based on the feedback. Please keep in mind this plan is subject to change based on the needs of the students: Lesson 1: How to succeed in this class Lesson 2: Characters Lesson 3: Story idea Lesson 4: Conflict Lesson 5: Plot Lesson 6: Setting Lesson 7: Research Lesson 8: Dialogue Lesson 9: Get ready to write your first draft! Lesson 10 - 13: Write your first draft Lesson 14: Add a subplot Lesson 15: About the Author Lesson 16: Title Lesson 17-18: Ongoing support if you need to catch up The amount of time a student spends on this class as well as their word count goal are based on the goals of the student and parent (or guardian), and we help you customize it. Students spend the first few weeks planning their novel and on short writing assignments, which are optional. The latter part of the semester is spent writing their first draft. Students are encouraged to post part of their work they need feedback on inside the classroom since most often, the feedback one learner receives will also apply to the other students. Students are also free to post their questions inside the classroom so the answers are shared with other students as well. We will provide a PDF workbook, which is a free but amazing resource. No need to purchase any supplies, books, or resources for this flex class.

Our art teachers have expertise in teaching all ages!
We go beyond teaching art: our mission is to equip children with mindsets that will help them succeed in all areas of life. Patience, persistence, peacefulness. Character, confidence, creativity. Cultivating these qualities in your child through a fun art experience is our passion.
We are on a mission to empower kids to become lifelong learners, who are confident in their creativity so they can overcome any obstacle, achieve their biggest dreams, and change the world.

Meg Navarro has recorded your weekly instructional videos.
Over the past decade, Meg has taught thousands of students to create dazzling, realistic art, to take impressive photos, and to write their first novels. In 2007, Meg founded Megapixels School of the Arts, which began as a local art school and expanded to offer online classes a few years back. Meg personally trains each teacher in the Megapixels Method, which she has tested and refined over the past decade. Meg studied art, photography, and writing while earning her BA, and is currently working on her Masters in Education. In her free time, she loves making human pyramids with her friends!
