Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 10
Learners will apply writing strategies to develop a creative writing portfolio that they will then use Canva to publish and share their work.

In this course, we will cover English Language Arts academic standards as well as how to utilize Canva to create engaging multimedia content for publication.

Each week, we will begin with a Focused Attention Practice designed to prime brains for learning that is aligned to both ELA standards and SEL standards.

My teaching style casts each learner as competent and creative, using Universal Design for Learning. I differentiate and scaffold, placing all learners in their optimal zone of instruction.

Learners will have regular opportunities to engage with ELA content through games, slides, videos, discussions, and more!

Learners will need to understand the difference between fiction (learning by imagination) and nonfiction (learning by information) as well as a desire to tell stories. No homework will ever be assigned. Assessment will occur after each session.
