My teaching style is interactive, supportive, and focused on building confidence. I create a welcoming environment where learners feel comfortable sharing their ideas and trying new things. I encourage creativity and guide learners with clear explanations, examples, and personalized support when needed. What will be taught? Learners will be introduced to the creative writing process by crafting a story inspired by a shared picture. They will learn how to: • Imagine and develop characters, settings, and events based on a visual prompt. • Organize ideas into a story with a clear beginning, middle, and end. • Use descriptive details to bring their story to life. • Build confidence in their ability to express ideas creatively and effectively. Topics Covered - • Story Elements: Characters, setting, problem/conflict, and solution/resolution. • Brainstorming Techniques: Generating ideas from visual prompts. • Descriptive Writing: Using details and sensory language to enhance storytelling. • Story Structure: Organizing ideas into a logical and engaging sequence. • Creative Expression: Encouraging individuality and imagination in writing. How will I teach this class? I will teach using a combination of discussion, modeling, and guided practice: • Discussion: Collaborative brainstorming sessions based on the shared picture. • Modeling: Writing a quick story in real time to show learners how to use story elements. • Guided Practice: Step-by-step prompts to help learners structure their stories. • Feedback: Encouraging positive interactions during optional sharing time. What will interaction throughout class look like? • Discussion: I’ll ask open-ended questions to spark ideas and guide brainstorming. • Guidance: I’ll check in with learners during writing time to answer questions and offer support. • Modeling: I’ll demonstrate the storytelling process by writing a story based on the picture. • Feedback: During optional sharing time, I’ll provide constructive feedback The 45-minute class will follow this structure: • Introduction & Icebreaker : • Demonstration & Group Story Building • Picture Exploration • Brainstorming & Writing Time • Optional Sharing and Wrap-Up ⭐️ Class Description Note ⭐️ During this class, we may use interactive tools such as Nearpod, Pear Deck, Padlet, Jamboard, Kahoot, Quizizz, Blooket, or Google Forms to enhance learning and collaboration. Learners will not need accounts for these tools, and secure links will be provided during class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have separate Bachelor’s degrees in English and Communications, a Master’s degree in Education, and over 20 years of teaching experience with learners of all ages. I’ve worked as a university writing tutor and have led creative writing workshops, including summer programs for younger school-age children, to inspire creativity and develop storytelling skills.
