Class Experience
This class is a creative writing course. There are no live classes. Students do not have specific times to be in class. Parents or students can simply complete the lectures and assignments as it suits their schedule, inside of the 10-week class. In this course, students will learn to write a dialogue between characters, create rhyming poetry, write letters in a friendly letter format, free write, and create their own spells and potions. Most importantly, they will write! This course is perfect if you are looking to add a reading and writing component to your curriculum. It will also support students who are having difficulty producing writing or students who need help with grammatical structure. This course uses Harry Potter as a creative inspiration and as a context for the writing assignments. It also makes the class discussion fun and MAGICAL! Class Structure: We use Google Classroom for this course. This course is designed to be read along with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Although, you could use these writing prompts without reading the book. The prompts are designed with the idea that you have knowledge of Harry Potter and the wizarding world. There is a writing prompt for each chapter of the book. Along with the writing prompt, there are instructions, grammar videos, visual aids and samples for writing a great response. Writing prompts will be posted in Google Classroom on Mondays. There will be opportunities for discussions and conversation about the text and the assignments. Assignments will be graded and feedback will be given to students by the next week. Students are always welcome to ask questions in the class discussion for particular writing prompts. If they have questions or comments, Professor Oyo will respond within 24 hours. Suggested Class Schedule: Sundays - make sure you have read the two chapters for the week Mondays - two writing prompts will be posted by the professor Wednesday - write and post the first writing prompt to the classroom Friday - write and post the second writing prompt to the classroom Finally, this is a Wizarding School, please be prepared for Magic!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a real Harry Potter fan. I even attend Harry Potter conventions every year. I traveled to Ireland to learn how to play Quidditch with the Dublin Dragons. Yes, Quidditch is played int he muggle world. I started reading Harry Potter with my daughter when the series first came out in 1997. She is now 32 and we have passed the love of all things magical to my granddaughters as well.
I combine my skills and a reading specialist, English teacher, and ESL instructor with my knowledge and love of Harry Potter to create an educational experience that is quite unique for my students.
