US Grade 3 - 6
In this 5-week class, students will learn to write a personal narrative. The schedule will be as follows: Week 1: Introductions/What is a Personal Narrative Students will learn about the class and what a personal narrative is Week 2: Brainstorming/Making a Plan Students will learn how to focus on a moment in their lives to create a story with a plot structure. Week 3: Writing an Introduction Students will learn the best ways to start a story. Week 4: Writing a Draft Students will learn how to "show not tell" with dialogue and integrating description. Week 5: Student will learn how a critique group works an revise their stories to share. This class is taught by a teacher with a Bachelor's in Creative Writing, a Master's in Elementary Education, certification in English. I also am part of an international writing organization and am an active children's book writer.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the writing process, literary terms, skills for developing strong creative writing skills, how to give and receive helpful critiques, how to analyze stories for elements and good writing.
