No assignments, but I encourage students to work on their writing outside of the club in order to gain experience and keep the creativity flowing!Class Experience
US Grade 9 - 12
Creative Writing Club is a space for aspiring writers to safely share creative writing, receive feedback, and take the time to work on writing independently. Writing Club is focused on collaboration, discussion, and inspiration! I am here to guide students on their individual writing paths, providing support and a space for discussion when needed. This class will be learner directed, focused on their needs and individual goals. While students do not need to have a background in writing, they must have an idea they want to share or a willingness to brainstorm ideas in order to participate in class. This could manifest in a variety of ways: an unfinished short story, an idea for a novel, poem collection that needs another set of eyes, an image that hasn't let their mind, etc.
Learning Goals
Students will gain confidence in their writing abilities and achieve progress in the ideas or writing that they came into class with.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
We will discuss the reality of the writing world and how some topics can be written about in the real world. This could include topics such as abuse, addictions, pulling from personal experiences, etc. If you are uncomfortable with this, you may not want to enroll your child. I want to allow for as much open discussion as students feel comfortable sharing.
Supply List
Pen and paper or the ability to have a document open on their computer at the same time as the class.
Language of Instruction
English
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hi and welcome to my profile!
I believe that reading and writing are two of the most important interests in a student that should be nurtured and supported!
I offer two types of classes: a variety of writing classes geared towards students at different stages in their writing journey and a literature class where students can read fun short stories, poems, and novels of various genres and have the chance to discuss and dissect!
I have a bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University in Creative Writing. I have had short stories and poems published in a variety of small literary magazines and spent some time as a freelance writer/editor. I am also a certified English Teacher with experience teaching AP Literature classes to high school seniors.
I believe that nurturing a love of reading and providing an outlet for creativity is the best way to boost a student's confidence and allow them to flourish into the people they want to be.
While teaching and writing does take up a lot of free time, you can also find me curled up on the couch reading a book or covered in flour trying out a new baking recipe.
I can't wait to meet you all!
