CLASS SUMMARY
The skill sessions in this 4 session camp will take your creative writing up a notch. Please note, this camp is not for reluctact writers but, instead, is designed for creative writers who enjoy storytelling and are looking to improve their craft. Guided elaboration sessions will help you see a noticeable difference in the quality of your writing content. I will teach you how to explode moments and take non-descriptive statements and transform them into elaborated multi-statements.

This camp is a great fit for three types of kids:

✔️ the learner who is a solid writer and needs to be creatively challenged

✔️ the learner who is a natural storyteller but may lack confidence because of grammar, spelling mistakes, or other reasons (grammar and spelling should ALWAYS play second string to the story and are not emphasized in this creative camp)

✔️ the learner who enjoys writing and wants to take it to the next level

CLASS AGENDA
I will give you small practice topics before moving to full prompts. Over the course of the 4 days, there will be built-in writing time (and sharing) in addition to guided lesson and practice.

Day 1:
⭐ "Exploding" a moment lesson with mini-prompts requiring "slow motion" storytelling
⭐ Voluntary learner share

Day 2:
⭐ Application of first day instruction to learners' creative fantasy, scifi, or other story genre
⭐ Voluntary learner share

DAY 3:
⭐ Showing vs. telling lesson utilizing small prompts and allowing learner to practice transforming them from "flat" statements into "dynamic" ones
⭐ Voluntary learner share

DAY 4:
⭐Application of first AND third day instruction to learners' same or new creative stories
⭐ Voluntary learner share

CAMERAS ON FOR A SAFE SPACE
Learners are required to have working cameras in the “on” position. Class is SAFER, more engaging, and more social this way. Please make sure your learner arrives with camera on. Black screens do not promote trust in a group.

Other Details

Pre-Requisites
Not designed for reluctant writers. Learners in this camp will currently enjoy writing and seek to grow their storytelling skills.
Supply List
Learners may use Google Docs or lined paper. Learner choice. My advice is to use the method you are able to do fastest. If you write faster than you type, for example, you should use paper.
