I am offering this class because I am a creative thinker and writer myself. As a teacher, I love to hear students offer their own creative ideas and thoughts, yet I feel discouraged when I observe the students struggle to publish and bring attention to their wonderful creativity. I have led creative writing classes and make it my goal to channel the students' creativity into their writing so that others can appreciate their ideas and thoughts appropriately.
The students will be encouraged to continue to work on their stories outside of class.
1 file available upon enrollmentI will upload an outline guide for the students to have printed out before the first class. They will need this printout to help them organize their ideas for the class story that they will write. For the class story, the students are free to decide whether they will handwrite or type their stories.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
During the first three classes, the students will be working on a story that they will write for the class. The students will be required to send this stories to me for assessment between the third and fourth class. I will go over the rubric with the students during each class and will make it available for them to access. In the final class, the students will present their stories to the class and receive peer feedback.
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
***Please be advised if your child is the only student in class, I will reach out to you the day before to inform you of the following option. If you are still interested in your child taking the class alone, then you can join my Individual Creative Writing Class. This class teaches the same content, yet it is taught in 30 minute sessions (since individual students often do not need the full 50 minutes of this class to complete their work) and you will be charged less for the class. You will also be refunded for this class so that you do not double pay.
