Week 1
Lesson 1
What is creative writing?
In this lesson students will learn about the basics of creative writing and how we can use it to build an amazing story. Students will be able to learn about SPaG and also the 5 senses within literature. 
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Back to the basics
In this lesson students will be able to strip back different scenarios and look at the basics. We will look at some extracts from popular children's stories and look at how the authors created different themes throughout to create a fun and entertaining story. 
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Mind maps
In this lesson students will be taught about mind maps and how we can use them. Students will learn about the importance of planning work before starting their writing. This class students will need a notebook or paper and coloured pencils along with writing pencils/pens.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Characters
In this lesson students will learn about secondary and main characters in stories and why we should ensure we have enough information to write about them. We will look at some popular story characters throughout history to learn more about appearances, personalities and tasks.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Planning 
In this lesson students will start to plan their characters. We will look at different aspects that they want and how they can use these to create a character. Students will also be able to imagine and create themselves as characters. Students will start to create a storyline allowing them to get an idea of what will happen to their characters as the story progresses. 
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Let's write! 
In this lesson students will start to write their stories. They will use the planning and notes that they have taken from previous classes, students will be able to have work checked for grammar, spelling or SPaG issues. 
 Week 7
Lesson 7
Finalising
In this lesson students will learn about proofreading and finalising their writing. This will allow them to look at their work and how they can improve it. This will allow students to pic cup very important skills that they will be able to use in the future. 
 Week 8
Lesson 8
Bring them to life! 
In this lesson students will be given to opportunity to have their characters created. We will create them using AI tools within the classroom. Students will be allowed to keep their creations!
