Beginner Level
In this one time Creative Thinking class, children will learn how to brainstorm, explore new ideas, practice problem solving, and use imagination. We will warm up our brains by playing the 30 Shapes Game. "Do you see 30 circles? I see a donut, a wheel, a pizza, a flying saucer." Then, we will do an activity called Unusual Ideas where I name an unusual product (such as ketchup popsicles) and we will come up with a positive spin on how the product can be useful. Melted ketchup popsicle on your burger anyone? Next up is the What If Game where we come up with answers to questions like "What if it rained marshmallows? What if you were invisible for a day? What if you had a giraffe as a pet?" Lastly, we will end class looking at a famous piece of artwork and share what we would add to the picture. This class gives students the opportunity to think outside the box and stretch their minds. I will guide students by modeling and thinking out loud. There are no materials needed for this class.

Hi! I am Ms. Kristen. I have over 12 years of teaching experience. I have a Master's degree in Special Education as well as a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I appreciate teaching because I love helping children to feel empowered through gaining knowledge & exercising the imagination. I have strengths in assessing student progress and helping students find their inner encouragement. Aside from teaching, I enjoy exploring outdoors - (especially in the snow!) - doing yoga, and learning American Sign Language. Looking forward to learning with you!
