Welcome to Creative Storytelling with Exquisite Corpse, a unique writing workshop designed for young minds aged 10-13. In this engaging 45-minute session, we’ll unleash our creativity and improve our writing skills using the surrealistic game, Exquisite Corpse. Exquisite Corpse is a game invented by the Surrealists. Each participant adds to a composition in sequence, either by following a rule or by being allowed to see the end of what the previous person contributed. Our game will revolve around creating intriguing sentences, forming the foundation for an imaginative story, video idea, animation skit or poem. As a creative writer attending many creative writing workshops, this game always gets me into an imaginative mood! My approach to creative writing is play-based, learner-centered and interactive. We'll begin by briefly introducing the Exquisite Corpse game's rules. After that, each player will sequentially add articles, adjectives, nouns, and verbs to our shared sentence, all without seeing what others have written. Once everyone has contributed, we'll reveal the full sentence. After making minor adjustments for grammatical consistency, each learner will use the sentence as a creative prompt to launch into something creative. This is perfect for novel writers, storytellers, poets, animators and scriptwriters. Writers may want to work in groups or individually. No prior experience with the Exquisite Corpse game is necessary to participate in this class - and all creatives are welcome! Film and script makers, storytellers, poets and more. All you need is an eagerness to explore, create, and tell stories. Join us and take part in this exciting literary adventure!
