 Week 1
Lesson 1
Understanding Maps
- Learners will be able to read and interpret basic maps to understand the world around them; learners will be able to differentiate between physical and political maps.
Lesson 2
Types of Maps and Map Components
- Learners will be able to identify and explain various types of maps, including Population, Resource, Transportation, and Climate maps; learners will be able to recognize and understand key map components such as title, symbols, legend/key, and scale.
 Week 2
Lesson 3
Florida's Physical Features
- Learners will be able to locate and describe Florida on a map, understanding its unique physical features; learners will be able to explain Florida's low elevation and diverse topography.
Lesson 4
Florida's Regions and Waterways
- Learners will be able to identify and categorize Florida's regions, including the coastal plain, central highlands, and Atlantic coastal plain; learners will be able to recognize and explain the significance of Florida's major waterways and landforms.
 Week 3
Lesson 5
Major Cities and Tourism Hotspots
- Learners will be able to identify and locate major cities in Florida on a map; learners will be able to describe popular tourist destinations and attractions in Florida.
Lesson 6
Unraveling Florida's Climate
- Learners will be able to explain the tropical and subtropical climates of Florida; learners will be able to identify and describe various weather phenomena in Florida, including hurricanes, tornadoes, thunderstorms, and drought.
 Week 4
Lesson 7
Culminating Portfolio Project
During this lesson, learners will be able to showcase what they've learned about the state of Florida.

Tegan Bombard, M.Ed., is a highly qualified educator with a strong background in literacy instruction. She holds a Master's degree specializing in literacy education, which equips her with advanced knowledge and strategies for promoting reading and writing skills in students. Additionally, she possesses another Master's degree specializing in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), demonstrating her expertise in supporting English language learners.

Throughout her career, Tegan has been recognized for her exceptional teaching abilities. She has received prestigious awards, including Teacher of the Year, Innovative Educator of the Month, and Innovative Teacher of the Year. These accolades highlight her commitment to innovative and effective teaching practices that inspire and engage students.

Currently, Tegan homeschools her two children, which allows her to intimately understand the needs and challenges of individual learners. With this firsthand experience, she brings a unique perspective to her teaching approach, prioritizing learner-centered instruction that empowers students to take ownership of their learning journey.
