Class will begin with an introduction to collages, followed by a picture book story and a brief discussion. The students will learn to create a collage using construction paper, newspaper, wrapping paper, tissue, and magazines. Learners will draw inspiration from several examples; pre-made collage, read aloud (illustrate space, shapes, colors), and from one another during a brief discussion. This class will be informal and open for students to ask questions. The students will be able to interact and share ideas with each other throughout class. Students who feel unsure may follow along and offer suggestions to other students or instructor. Learners at all skill levels are welcomed and will create a unique and personal collage. Learners are expected to use scissors and glue. This project is great practice for fine motor skills, hand/eye coordination and critical thinking skills.
