In this 30 minutes one-time class, students will work together to create funny Mad Libs while practicing parts of speech. Mad Libs are a great way to incorporate grammar, reading, and storytelling into a fun learning activity. As a teacher, I often include Mad Libs in my online classes as a reward system, or simply to have fun. The format of this class will go as followed. We will start with a review of the 8 parts of speech, with a focus on nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. This part will be completed via a trivia game with student participation. Then, we will compile a list of words for each part of speech. This word bank will be useful when creating our two Mad Lib stories. After each story, I will ask extension questions if time allows. We will end the class with a brief review and conclusion. For this class, the student simply needs to be present and ready to participate, no additional materials are needed. Class breakdown: - Introduction (3 mins) - Review of the following parts of speech (noun, verb, adjective, adverb) followed by a compilation a word bank of each: (10 mins) - Mad Lib 1 (7 mins) - Mad Lib 2 (7 mins) - Conclusion/review (3 mins) Total class time: 30 minutes *This breakdown is approximate. We might spend more time on one part of the class than another.
In this class, students will learn and/or review the parts of speech (e.g. adjectives, adverbs, nouns, etc.). Other goals of this class include having fun, having a good laugh, and building some enjoyment towards story making and reading.Hi there! My name is Madeleine, and I live in New-Brunswick, Canada. I am currently completing my education degree in order to obtain my teacher's license by June 2023. I will be teaching full time starting August 2023 at my local high school. Last year, I completed my master's degree in chemistry and physics. In 2019, I completed by Bachelor's degree in chemistry and math at the University of Indianapolis. During my undergraduate degree, I competed on the swimming team, and I had the incredible chance of going to NCAA division II nationals.
I have worked with many students in a variety of disciplines and a variety of age groups. My experience includes private tutoring, working as a teacher's assistant, and teaching online ESL. Most importantly, I taught a 5th grade class from November 2021 to June 2022 as part of a long-term substitute teaching contract. Over the past 10 years, I've also taught swimming lessons to children aged 5 to 15. My favorite part about teaching is interacting and forming connections with my students and learning more about them. On Outschool, I teach a wide variety of classes including, but not limited to, fun dog training classes, science classes, and crafting classes. I can't wait to meet your learner!
