Class experience

US Grade 8 - 11
By the end of the class, the student you will have a solid understanding of how to create engaging and well-rounded character backstories that will enhance their role-playing experience and help them fully immerse in the game world.
I have been playing RPG since the 80s and it has been a big part of my life. It has also influenced my writing as a fantasy author. The information that I share is part of the process I use to create characters in my award-winning book series- Secrets of the Twilight Djinn.
Homework Offered
If a student has a backstory they have already written, they are encouraged to bring it if they would like to share for feedback.

Grades Offered
Some games and characters can be a little intense or scary for some students. There are themes of video game or RPG violence that could come up, but will not be the focus of this class. If you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact me beforehand. The focus will be on creative writing techniques, not specific games.
Having source books for games such as the Players Handbook for D&D can be helpful to pull ideas from. This is not necessary to enjoy and learn from the class.
