Class Experience

Welcome to your course on creating an escape room!

As some of you may have experienced in my other classes, I have designed several escape rooms and I am a fan of playing them as well in my free time. I want to help you create your own escape room experience! This course is designed to help you learn the skills and tricks to create your own interactive escape room that you could play with your family and friends. Students will learn all the stages of creating an escape room from creating a theme to the final master copy of preparing to play your escape room.

We will meet once a week for four weeks. The course is designed this way to allow students to have time to work on their escape rooms and be ready to move on to the next part of the experience. Students will be expected to complete work outside of class such as creating puzzles, choosing images, writing introductions, etc. Each week, a list of tasks will be given at the end of class time to help students remain on track to complete parts of an escape room. In the final 15 minutes of each class, students will have a work period so that I can provide extra support if they have additional questions or need support with a task. In the final week, students will be given the opportunity to share parts of their escape room and test it on their classmates.

What do you need for this course?
Students need to be comfortable using their devices as they will be expected to try things on their own devices as we work through the stages of the escape room. Students will need to have access to Google Slides, Docs, and Drive which will require a Google email (it can be a parent's email, please discuss this prior to the first class). Please see the 'Learner Supply List' below and read through the course outline carefully. Feel free to message me with any questions.
