This class is a 1:1 Flex class, allowing students to choose their very own drawing projects for each lesson. Each Create Your Own Camp includes 16 lessons which can be spread out to a schedule that works best for you. Class format if flexible, allowing students to do a 4-week intensive course with 4 projects a week or they can choose to do 2 projects a week for 8 weeks, or even once a week for 16 weeks. Students will choose lessons from my course catalog which currently has 250 drawing projects available.

Each week video instruction will walk the students step by step through the drawing/s of that week. Each week a new virtual scavenger hunt challenge, expansion project or video response question will be posted within the theme of the week. Students are to upload either a photo or a video of their weekly work to the classroom and share their experience with the project.

I will work with each student, providing feedback and encouragement on each project posted. I’m also available for creative advice while working through a project, I am just an email away. I will record video feedback lessons when appropriate as well as share examples to help them understand better what my suggestions are.

The lesson catalog will be attached to the Welcome post in the classroom or you can view it here: https://www.canva.com/design/DAFBKxelYGo/view

My Favorite Supplies

(This list will give you a starting point when you’re ready to explore more supplies. Again, don’t go out and buy everything, think birthday and holiday gifting...

Alcohol Based Markers (these are permanent but a great next step for students who want to blend and create bold colors without the paper falling apart on them) https://amzn.to/3Nq7Ij6
Multi-Media Sketchbook (7x10 is my favorite but 9x12 works great too) https://amzn.to/3G6uhab
Patterning Illustration Pens (I like the S and XS sizes for intricate patterning) https://amzn.to/39LxmQA
Black Marker for Outlining https://amzn.to/3LvW9pj or https://amzn.to/3PAkJbL
Large Eraser https://amzn.to/3NsOoSb
White Gel Pen (can be used as white out, I often use it for stars or snow) https://amzn.to/3LGB8Iq
Shape Stencils Helpful but not required, everything can be done by hand https://amzn.to/3G6RQzz
Water Brush Pens are helpful if using watercolor near devices, no need for a large cup of water just a moist paper towel for wiping off on. https://amzn.to/3Lw1Rrf

The joy that creating provides is something that should be shared and explored by all!

I believe all learning styles can be taught in the same space in most cases and you will find that 99% of my classes are project based for that reason. Putting the learning into the hands of the students helps retention and instills a love of learning. I teach for enjoyment and want my students also enjoying the learning process, you will not find me teaching to a test or requesting memorization of facts. I will find fun and creative ways to get kids learning without them even realizing it most of them time. Some may call it arts and crafts, but I guarantee you your students will love it and they will learn and more importantly retain the information being taught.

I have always felt that art was important. I did not always know how to put it into words necessarily, but I realized early on that it always left me in a better mood than when I started. With our last few years of “social distance” orders, my views on the need for a creative outlet have gone from thinking they are important to knowing they are ESSENTIAL. We need to create our own happiness and when at all possible, share that joy with others.

While we are all struggling to process our thoughts and fears, our kids are also struggling to put into words what they are feeling.

ART CAN HELP.

It can become a way to slowly work through thoughts and feelings. Sometimes feelings are easier expressed in color or shape than in words. And art does not always have to be in the form of a painting or drawing, but a visual representation of what they’re learning.
