This is a 5-week Flexible Schedule meeting course where students engage in a variety of art projects learning how to apply the elements of art and principles of design.

Class experience

My classes are designed and taught so that students will be able to understand and apply the elements of art and the principles of design through painting, drawing and some mixed media techniques.

Overall, participating in this series of six art classes, my students will have improved their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, enhanced focus, visual and spatial relationship skills and feel a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Creating original art will build confidence, nurture innate creativity and right-brain activity, thus enhancing academic performance. All wonderful outcomes from a simple series of art classes with me!

Students will be able to:

- know the terms: pattern, monochromatic color scheme, collage, scumble, stippling, mixed media, and more.
- understand color theory well enough to create any color they want
- be able to mix paints to create secondary colors, tints and shades
- create a pattern-focused composition
- paint a variety of types of paintings using color mixing
- create an original mixed media collage composition
- create an abstract oil pastel composition using seven different oil pastel techniques
- will be exposed and learn about a range of artists whose styles reflect and inspire the lessons and art projects that the students will create.
I am offering this Flexible Schedule class because I love art and art making in all of it's forms and introducing my students to the magic of making art brings me much joy. I love creating something beautiful that didn’t exist ever before! I have been making art since I was three-years old and grew up in a home environment where creativity was a way of life.

I’ve always been creative and interested in colors, textures, textiles, fashion design and traveling the globe appreciating diverse cultures. I am inspired by nature, the cosmos and color most of all! To me, making art, expressing myself creatively and teaching others to do that, are as natural as breathing. Kids of all ages love my inspired, relaxed and energetic style of teaching art.

I look forward to having the opportunity to meet and create art together apart.
