***CLASS REQUIRES SUPPLIED TEMPLATE DOWNLOAD. PLEASE HAVE PROCREATE DOWNLOADED PRIOR TO CLASS, please download the ballerina template below. This class DOES NOT require any prerequisites since the principles/techniques needed to complete the class are taught DURING the lesson*** If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to re-create the look of stained- glass with digital art, here’s your chance! Each student will work with a template created by Mr. Niven, and follow along to colorize and highlight and shade each piece to create the illusion of stained-glass. Too often, digital art has a shallow, plastic, or flawless look, that we have come to associate with, digital or computer artwork. Sometimes that is actually the look we want for a specific application, and sometimes it’s not. This class focuses on teaching students how to use digital techniques in Procreate, to replicate the traditional medium of stained-glass. This class utilizes state-of-the-art, screen-sharing technology, using Zoom, which allows students to see and hear Mr. Niven teaching, while watching him draw directly on his iPad screen. Mr. Niven’s teaching style is fun and relaxed, yet motivating, which allows the students to feel comfortable, and confident. Bryan builds on principles, techniques and processes, using real-world examples, and motivates his students to use the knowledge gained in class, to create on their own. ***PLEASE be respectful of the other students, including your own child, (as it can be overwhelming if they are not properly qualified for class), as you consider your learner’s maturity with regard to listening skills, comprehension, and processing. If you would like to try one of Mr. Niven’s classes, and your child struggles with learning, please consider starting with a private lesson. That way the introduction, and any challenges aren’t compounded by peer pressure/anxiety. Two of Mr. Niven’s own children are on the Autism Spectrum, thus his sensitivity and dedication to helping ALL children succeed, is not only professional but also personal. Out of respect for the the entire class, if your child is late Mr. Niven will have to evaluate whether or not he can let your child in, without negatively affecting the other students. An option to view the class recording may be made available to those who are late, or miss the class, depending on, but not limited to, the reason the student was late, why they missed the class, or if the enrollment minimum was met, wherein a recording may not exist, and will be handled at Mr. Niven’s discretion.

Supply List
Students MUST have Procreate downloaded prior to class. This class can be done on either iPad or iPhone, and Mr. Niven recommends using a stylus for added control. Apple Pencil is BY FAR the best stylus for iPad, but not needed for this class. Two other brands of stylus Mr. Niven recommends are Wacom (Bamboo Fineline or Sketch, both of which support pressure sensitivity on iPad and iPhone), and also Adonit, which are great for precise control, and also have several styli that support pressure. For more information on software and hardware, including information about procreate, and the various styli, as well as compatibility, and recommendations for various iPads, or iPhones that support Procreate, please consider enrolling in Mr. Niven’s Digital Art Orientation, for Students and Parents.
