In this one-time class students will create their own mini microscope. The design is very simple, but it always fascinates kids so much. I always start class by getting to know my learners. From there, I will give a little history about microscopes. Then I will discuss the different steps we will use to create a simple microscope. From there, students will use their new microscope to discover different specimens. We will share we notice, discuss how we created the microscope, and then brainstorm ways we could improve our design.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about microscopes and explore different specimens.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! My name is Beckie and I live in Georgia. I have been teaching in a public school setting for 8 years. I've taught 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th grade. I love providing my students with hands-on and engaging activities. I believe in implementing STEM, critical thinking, and higher levels of learning in the classroom setting. My favorite part of teaching is when my learners share their excitement with others. My goal is for your child to not only learn new concepts, but to build a passion for something new. I was voted "Teacher of the Year" a few years ago; therefore, I strive to provide my students with a learning environment that gets them excited to learn new concepts and ideas.
In my free time I enjoy reading, cooking, and exploring new parks with my family. I look forward to teaching your child!
