Learners may have to finish their pictures after class and think about the story they want to tell. Parents should ask the learner about their story using the "who, what, where, when, why?" questions.Class Experience
In this one day class designed to tap into your child's creativity, learners will use colorful shapes and magazine cutouts to create a crazy character. As they are building their character, they will learn the elements of characterization through a colorful and engaging slide presentation and give their character a personality. They will learn about the elements of story and give their crazy character a goal. Learners will write or tell their stories. When the class is completed, students will have a finished "story" they can tell parents (who can write it down for younger students) for a wonderful keepsake treasure for years to come. Every time a learner returns to class they will create a new crazy character! So come back for more fun!
Learning Goals
* Learners will learn about characterization to give their crazy character a personality.
*Learners will learn to identify the elements of storytelling through who, what, where, when, and why questions. This will not only increase their storytelling ability, but reading comprehension as well.
* Learners will use their creativity, brainstorm their own story.
* Learner will tell their story to the class and learn more complex ways of speaking with connectors like "after, before, if, then, while, because."
* Learners will tell their story to parents and write it down for a treasured keepsake.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from Oral Roberts University
I'm a published fiction and nonfiction author, former homeschool mom of four, and have taught and tutored all ages for close to 20 years. I developed these creative writing and storytelling techniques when I started teaching an elective writing course at my kids' school over 10 years ago. This curriculum has developed over time and can be adapted for children of all ages to be successful in storytelling. I'm the author of "Release the Novel in You" workbook: The go-to fiction book for teen authors and I teach advanced novel writing and story telling as well as other writing and elective classes on Outschool.
What parents are saying:
Gina is a phenomenal writing teacher! We have loved working with her. We have a range of ages and she is great at adapting to their ages and learning styles. She's very patient and good at helping them focus. My kids have learned so much and been stretched and challenged in the area of writing. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to advance in any area of writing! - Bethany mother of K, 1, 3, 4 tutored students.
