Every student needs the basic "five paragraph essay" in their bag of tricks. First, this class will cover the basics of outline note taking from a source. Then, students will learn to use their outline to write 3 body paragraphs, an introduction paragraph, and a conclusion paragraph. Students will be able to: -take key word outline notes by choosing important and interesting details from a source text. -use the outlines to write organized paragraphs. -write introduction and conclusion paragraphs. -use dress-ups to clarify writing and engage readers. -edit and revise their papers.
I am a trained writing teacher with the Institute for Excellence in Writing. I taught writing to 4th-8th graders in public and private school.
Week 1: Key Word Outline-Blobfish and Narwhal (estimated time: <1 hour) Week 2: Write the Blobfish and Narwhal paragraphs, complete the introduction and conclusion paragraphs handout (estimated time 1-2 hours) Week 3: Write the introduction and conclusion paragraphs; edit and revise (estimated time 1-2 hours)
No purchases are required. I will provide all necessary handouts.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will send assignments to me via learner/teacher messages. I will give constructive feedback on all assignments. If requested, I will provide a grade for the final report.
