How adorable is this origami cat?! The best part is that it can be made with the simplest folds that our youngest learners can make with little to no assistance. I'm excited to guide students step-by-step to make their own. There's absolutely no experience needed for this class but even seasoned paper crafters will find these projects to be fun and engaging. *Discount! Invite a friend or join a class with students already enrolled! Multi-learner classes will be discounted from the listed price (upon request). **Please bring at least one sheet of paper that is a square with four equal sides. Also, bring something to draw or color with to add the face. The only materials needed are something to color with and a piece of paper that is square (any size 6x6" or bigger, I recommend larger sizes if motor skills are still in development or smaller sizes if working on finer dexterity). I will be on camera throughout the class and additionally share my camera showing my hands so that everyone can easily follow along. I will clearly describe each fold and then demonstrate how to make it. While there is a ton of fun in this class, it's full of learning too! We'll talk about the shapes we are using - squares, triangles, and drawing circles for the eyes. In addition, we'll practice origami folding techniques including lining up edges, finding where a fold should go, and pressing down so a fold stays in place. The final part is my favorite. Each student gets to draw the face details (eyes, nose, and even a cute tongue) independently to make their kitten uniquely their own. They can let their creativity shine! If they are not comfortable drawing their own, I can guide them on how to do that part as well.

Hello everyone!
If you see a class you like but the time doesn't work, I'm happy to work with your schedule. Even if you are in a different time zone or my automatic availability isn't open at a certain time, reach out and there is a good chance I can make something work for you.
A bit about me and my teaching style:
I am passionate about art and creativity. Even more so, I love to inspire that in others. It's not about talent or skills you were born with, it's all about expressing yourself and growing your talent through practice and guidance. I believe everyone has the ability to create masterpieces and should have the freedom to find their own way of making them. I teach with a step-by-step demonstration approach while encouraging students to do it their own way whenever they feel ready to do so. This approach allows for wonderfully blended classes where the less experienced or shy learners can follow along with me and the bolder ones can work in their own way alongside us. Either way, we all end up with unique art we can be proud of and improved knowledge about the art/craft process we are practicing.
My classes are designed to be highly interactive and engaging with questions & answers throughout as well as hands-on activities. Be sure to check the supply list for each class because learners get the best experience when they are ready to learn with every material needed for the class.
In addition to my bachelor's degree in biology, I have a Graphic Arts certificate which I earned from Autry Technology Center. I earned 1st place in state (Oklahoma) and 6th nationally in the 2001 National Skills USA Championship competition in graphic communications. I teach the arts of drawing and painting to adults online on a voluntary basis. I also teach arts and crafts to children as a professional online and as a volunteer in person.
I have over 3 years of online teaching experience with students 4-17 years old. I have also worked with children in person in a variety of settings from my current position as a children's church leader to volunteering in afterschool care for at-risk children.
