Class Experience

Please be advised:
This class is best taken after successfully completing "Craft a Paper Sword" or "Craft a Paper Dagger" Class or if your student is experienced in folding Origami.

Students will follow along with me step by step as we:
1) Combine multiple layers of paper
2) Fold, crease, bend and tape very thick layers of paper
3) Fold, bend and smooth out and tape thick pieces of paper to create an Axe blade.
4) Fold and tape thick pieces of paper to create detail to our Axe handle.
5) Add thick rolled, taped paper as accent details to our Axe.
Learning Goals
Homeschooling my 4 children led our family to find imaginative and creative ways to use ordinary household items for creative make believe and play. Once my children were exposed to crafting with paper, cardboard, duct tape and string, this opened the doors for them to design, create and build more intricate “toys” over the years. My hope is that your child will gain simple skills in this class to do the same.

Parental Guidance
Parental Advisory: 1) Scissors will be used to cut paper. 2) Please be available to assist your leaner if they have difficulty making origami type folds in paper. Sometimes it is difficult for a child to see what I am doing on screen and mirror that with their paper folding. 3) This class is labeled 9-14 yrs old because of the difficulty of folding thick layers of the paper, and learners maturity needed in following step by step directions.

My Current Experience:
I currently teach these exact same paper crafts on a weekly basis to preteen groups via Live Zoom Meetings.

My family and I are "theater buffs" and have designed and created parade floats, stage props, stage furniture pieces for musical theater and plays.
