Class Experience

In this class learners will match countries to capitals using their flags. This will be done during a game of memory, or concentration. Learners will take turns choosing two "cards" to turn over. If they match they will go again. If they don't match, the cards will go back and the next learner will get their turn. This will done using a Google Slide. Multiple rounds will be played, and points won't be kept so that the class remains light and not competitive.
Here is an outline of what you can expect in class:
-Welcome and introductions
-1-2 rounds of memory, depending on how quickly learners go through the rounds.
-Goodbyes

Along with learning countries, capitals, and flags, the game of memory will aid learners in their recall skills. Throughout the lesson, learners will be able to converse with each other. I will be there to mediate and run the game.
No prior knowledge is needed.
Learning Goals
I can name countries and their capitals.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Kylie Bingham. I am a mom to a 4 year old and a 2 year old. I have been married for 5 years, and we live in Idaho, USA. Yes, I like potatoes! I have my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a Social Studies Endorsement. I am a certified K-8 teacher in the state of Idaho, and I am licensed to teach all subjects K-8 and Social Studies for grades 5-9. I am passionate about travel and meeting new people. I believe that the way to make our world a better place is to step out of our comfort zones and experience something new. I lived in São Paulo, Brazil for a year and a half and while I was there I learned so much about the importance of understanding culture and appreciating diversity in life. I hope to create a place of understanding and diversity in all of my classes.

There is so much to see and experience in this world, and I want your learner to get a head start! Nothing compares to the real thing, but my main goal with my Outschool classes is to encourage your learner to look outside themselves and be excited to learn about a new place or culture.
I offer map skills and basic map classes because those are fundamental necessities to know if you are going to travel the world! I also offer a variety of travel classes to help your learner see what it might be like to experience somewhere else in the world.

My main goal as an educator is to help my learners love learning as much as I do! To achieve this, I use various participation techniques to appeal to different learning styles. I also believe that it is important to include practice in social and academic skills, such as communication and questioning, while learning various topics. I believe that by doing this, it sets learners up for lifelong success in and out of the classroom.

I look forward to seeing you or your learner in class!
