Class Experience

This class will focus on identifying and counting Canadian coins. We will learn how to count coins from nickels to twoonies, using skip counting. I will show Canadian pennies and talk about how they are no longer in use. I will be showing my coins using a document camera and students can follow along with at home with their own coins. We will also cover how to make different amounts of money in different ways, and how to exchange one kind of coin for another. It will be helpful if students are familiar with skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s.

Hi, I'm Lisa. I live in the beautiful Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada. I have been teaching for 15 years now, first as a classroom teacher, now as a homeschooling mom. In the classroom I taught all subjects to various combinations of grades 1-4 students.

I have a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education. I am a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers.

I believe learning should be fun. I feel education should inspire students to desire more knowledge and encourage them to explore the world.

I love spending time with my family. We enjoy playing board games and card games together. You can also find us watching Survivor together. My daughters and I love to experiment in the kitchen, especially if it involves chocolate. We all love animals, particularly our own cats and dogs. You may notice a cat or two sneaking up on my lap during my classes.

I'm looking forward to seeing you in the classroom!
