In this one-time art class, we'll put our counting skills to good use to make a festive Christmas tree! 🎨 We'll start class with a warm welcome and learners will be invited to share their favorite part of the holiday season. Learners are encouraged to share if they feel comfortable, but there is no pressure if they don't want to! 🎨 We'll also look at some pictures of Christmas trees and talk about how they are narrow at the top and wide at the bottom, like a triangle. Then we'll get started on our art project. 🎨 Learners will use washable paint and their fingers* to make fingerprints that will become the tree. We start with one fingerprint at the top of the tree and add a fingerprint to each new row, all the way up to 10. 🎨 As we make each row, we'll practice counting out loud to help make sure we're making the right number of fingerprints. 🎨 After we have made our tree, we'll use our fingers* again to add colorful ornaments and a trunk to the tree. I am a patient and positive teacher and I truly believe that everyone can create art! I love seeing learners build their confidence and have fun creating something they're proud of. Also, as a former shy kid myself, I am very understanding of learners who take some time to warm up and there is no pressure in my classes to talk if that isn't comfortable yet. All are welcome here! *If your learner doesn't like touching the paint (sensory preferences are real and valid!), I have found that using small pom poms with a clothespin to be a great alternative.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from The University of Florida
Hello! My name is Ms. Suzanne and I love teaching arts and crafts to young artists. I believe everyone can be an artist! I love working with kids and have done so as a daycare teacher, nanny, school volunteer, and as a mom to my own three kids. I have a BA in linguistics from the University of Florida and I've been doing arts and crafts for as long as I can remember (I even ran my own Etsy shop for awhile!). When I teach arts and crafts projects to young learners, I believe in giving them lots of encouragement to try new things and make mistakes. Everyone's art will be a little different, and not only is that ok, it's amazing!
