Core Concepts and Revision for Second Grade in French

Join Ms. Erika in this fun and engaging course to prepare for second grade in French. This course is ideal for second graders who need a bit more support or first graders that could benefit from a more advanced curriculum. 

In this class, students will learn key concepts and skills to be successful in second grade. This course will cover Mathematics, French language and Grammar. Each week, students will learn a new skill for each subject area and each day will be focused on a specific subject. You can consult the weekly schedule and table of contents in more detail below. 

Your child will benefit from an inviting and safe environment where they will feel comfortable to participate and learn with the teacher and the other students. I am a passionate and dedicated teacher that ensures all children feel welcome and included by giving each student the chance to participate. This course will include the use of engaging slide presentations to accompany each lesson, the use of flashcards and memory activities to foster understanding, as well as the incorporation of games to make learning interesting and relevant. We will answer questions, sing songs and complete various activities throughout each meeting to keep your child engaged and happy while they are learning. 

Please note that this course will be held entirely in French. Students should have a thorough understanding of the French language in order to participate and be successful. However, students that can speak and understand French but have not yet attained fluency can still use this course to reinforce their existing level of French. If you are unsure of your child's ability to join this course, please do not hesitate to contact me for an assessment.

Daily Schedule : 
- Opening activity, calendar, weather : The beginning of class will include a morning message we read together and time for oral communication practice. (5 minutes)
- Concept review : We will review content learned in previous lessons and/ or activate prior knowledge on the concept being learned that day. (5 minutes)
- Teacher-led activity : The teacher will guide students through the new concept through the use of slides, flashcards and videos. (10 minutes)
- Student-led practice : Students will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned through interactive word problems and examples. They will be able to discuss with the teacher and other students to ensure they grasp the concept. (5 minutes)
