Class Experience

Coral reefs are often called the rainforests of the ocean because of their ability to support an incredible amount of life! From turtle-cleaning shrimp to clownfish in their anemone homes to predatory white-tip reef sharks, coral reefs provide shelter, food, and many other resources to a variety of animals! Discover some of the amazing relationships and interactions that occur between a variety of reef-dwelling animals and how the reef helps them survive! In this 40-minute lesson, students...

Students will become familiar with the habitat elements and structure of coral reef ecosystems.
Students will understand how coral reefs support other species.
Students will identify animals commonly found in coral reefs and describe why they rely on the reef.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
